With manufacturing facilities in Italy Spain and the US and further sales offices in Germany and China, GKN Axles achieved a turnover of more than ￡32m in 2006.

GKN Axles, alongside the other businesses in GKN OffHighway, is implementing processes such as lean manufacturing, streamlining its production processes and creating a common supply chain and global sales organisation as well as investing in technology and  new product development.

In 2006 over 500,000 axles, hubs and spindles were sold and distributed to over fifty countries worldwide including America, Australia Africa and all over Europe.

GKN Axles undertakes continuous research and development programmes to sustain its reputation for product excellence.  Using the latest technological systems, the GKN Axles team work with customers from the outset through to designing innovative solutions.

GKN Axles’ flagship products are the steel hub of the agricultural axles produced using a 4,000 tonne press and DURA-FLEX TM the first patented rubber torsion system which has demonstrated its durability all over the world and is used in applications as diverse as fitness, healthcare and playground equipment, industrial equipment as well as construction and transport trailers.

A recent development is GKN Axles SIDRATM  which provides a trailer with independent yet interconnected modules that efficiently manage transverse trailer tilting that occurs due to uneven ground or dynamic displacement of the load.  Designed to handle loads ranging from 9 to 12 tons with EEC standard certified brakes, the SIDRATM combines the pros of the hydro-pneumatic suspensions and an independent axle system in a single concept.
